The 18th Annual Russian-American Innovation Technology Week (RANIT) marks the 10th anniversary of RANIT. It will take place on September 23-30, 2013 and November 18-22, 2013. RANIT will include discussions with business leaders, policymakers, financiers, and technology corporations to promote technological cooperation between Russian and American businesses. It will focus on biotechnology, the pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment, life sciences, alternative energy, nanotechnology, the chemical industry, information technology, technology in education, and entrepreneurship. RANIT is supported by nearly 30 leading American and Russian business and governmental organizations, including the administrations of the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and Mid-Atlantic regional organizations focusing on international business, technology, innovations, and entrepreneurship. Russian delegations that will take part in the event will consist of representatives from the foremost Russian companies in innovation technology and related industries as well as senior federal and regional government officials.
The first part of the 18th Annual Russian-American Innovation Technology Week will take place in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and the Mid-Atlantic Region from September 23-30, 2013. Key Russian-American RANIT events will include Russian-American Innovation Technology, University Research & Commercialization Conference at the University City Science Center in Philadelphia on September 27 and Russian-American Life Sciences Innovation Conference in Philadelphia on September 30. Russian-American Innovation Technology, University Research & Commercialization Conference will feature discussions on new technology and university-related commercialization. The event will begin with remarks on developing innovation systems in various countries. A multi-country panel will discuss the current connection between university research commercialization and entrepreneurship in Russia, Israel, and the United States. The 2013 Russian-American Life Sciences Innovation Conference is a multi-industry event, highlighting increased involvement by key Russian and American policy-makers. The discussion will include policy changes that have come as a result of the “Comprehensive Program of Biotechnology Development in Russia to 2020” signed in April 2012 as well as Russia’s entry into the WTO in August 2012 and its effect on the Russian-American partnership in the life sciences industry.
Other RANIT events will include AdvaMed 2013 Conference, the premier medical technology conference and exhibition for businessmen and financiers in the Med Tech field, from September 23-25 at the Walter Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.; and Association of University Research Parks (AURP) 2013 International Conference from September 25-27 in Philadelphia, which will bring together high-tech economic development officials from around the world and include discussions on the most effective university research park methods and practices.
The second part of the 18th Annual Russian-American Innovation Technology Week will take place during Global Entrepreneurship Week from November 18-22, 2013. It will open with the Russian-American Innovation Technology Conference on November 18 in Philadelphia City Hall. Other RANIT events will include the Russian part of Greenbuild, the largest green building conference in the world, on November 20-22 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Co-organized by the Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business Council and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the 2013 Russian-American Life Sciences Innovation Conference is a multi-industry event, bringing together leading policymakers, industry experts, and academics to discuss key drivers in the growth of U.S. and Russian life science sectors. The conference will culminate the 18th Russian-American Innovation Technology Week (RANIT), which will highlight the biotechnology, pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment, and life sciences.
